Lakers sign Larry Turner

Former Tiger basketball center Larry Turner has been signed to the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers. Turner, a Milledgeville, Ga., native, transferred to TSU from the University of Oklahoma in 2005 and averaged 5.8 points and 6.1 rebounds during his senior year with the Tigers. (0) comments

In the third and final game of the invitational, the TSU Tigers (1-2) fell to the Auburn Tigers in four games (28-30,30-21,30-20,30-21). Big Blue's Kelly Davis and Candace Saleaumua both recorded double-doubles. Davis had another solid game for the Tigers with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Saleaumua recorded 34 set assist and 12 digs. TSU Tigerbelles mourned the death of teammate Jocelyn Gardiner who was killed this summer. "Jocelyn was such a beautiful person inside and out," said teammate Ashley Copeland, a junior psychology and sociology major from Atlanta. "Not only did I loose a teammate, but a close and dear friend. (0) comments

Tamara Washington officially moved into the position of a full-time assistant coach for the TSU Women's basketball team on Aug. 1, according to head coach Tracee Jones-Wells. "I believe that there's no place like home," Washington said. Washington said her responsibilities with the Lady Tigers are to include post development, film exchange, equipment, and assisting with recruiting, especially locally. (0) comments

Even though NFL quarterback Michael Vick filed a plea agreement to a federal court on Friday regarding dog-fighting charges brought against him today, TSU students feel that he should not be kicked out of the NFL. Michael Vick, a 6'0 quarterback from Newport News, Va. (0) comments
