Although Tiffany Pollard, better known by avid Flavor of Love viewers as New York, was booted twice by Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav, the 24-year-old, Utica, N.Y., native bounced back once again with her very own reality series titled, I Love New York.
Producers of Flavor of Love, according to Vh1.com, were moved by New York's heart crushing rejections. So when the show's season two finale wrapped, the scorned lover was offered a deal she couldn't refuse.
Millions of fans watched with surprise when Flav chose Detroit native Deelishis after bringing New York back for the second time. But after the elimination, many of the more than 7.5 million watchers who tuned in were also disappointed.
After repeatedly being dumped by Flav, New York teams up with mother, Sister Patterson, and flamboyant stylist/personal assistant Chamo, to find her one true love. The trio set up shop in Los Angeles as the 20 male hopefuls compete for not only New York's attention, but also her over the top mother's attention.
The men wasted no time going head-to-head with each other, eagerly waiting at New York's front doorstep to meet reality televisions' newest drama queen since Omarosa, of The Apprentice and Surreal Life fame.
I Love New York is definitely one of the most anticipated new reality series in Vh1's Celebreality cluster, since viewers just can't seem to get enough of New York's and her mother's antics.
Just as Flav named his hopefuls, New York follows a similar style, but allows the gentlemen to give themselves names. Though this and other slight differences litter the series, when things begin to spiral out of control at a welcoming cocktail mixer, it reminds faithful Flavor of Love supporters of the many cat fights that took place in Flav's mansion.
Boston native Lee, better known as Mr. Boston, beefed with Los Angeles native Kamal, also known as Chance, on the pilot episode, "Do You have Love for New York?" And just as things seem to lighten up, a drunken Chance attacks New York's mom-definitely a bad idea.
But the laughs don't stop there, as New York's mom, a man's worse nightmare, also attempts to weed out the potentially gay contestants from the straight.
I Love New York contestants range from Ivy League prep to the loony bin, and with that much of a wide range of a personality gap, a fight is undoubtedly going to arise.
By the end of the hour and a half series premiere, 20 hopefuls dwindled down to 15 leaving Wood, T-Money, Ace, Jersey, and T-bone disappointed. If you have love for New York, tune in Mondays at 9 p.m. on VH1.•
