The TSU Department of Athletics hosted its annual Pro Day in the Gentry Center on Friday, March 16.
There were 13 former Tigers and one Big Blue basketball player who participated.

Some of the athletes that attended the Pro Day included seniors Jonathan Edwards, Jeremy Stevens, Gerald Morrow, Jarrett Morrow, Aaron Strong and basketball player Clarence Matthews.

"I think I performed well today," Edwards said. "I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play football."
Scouts from the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns were there to see what TSU athletes had to offer.

Matthews, an All-OVC second-team basketball player, had a good showing at the Pro Day workout and he caught the eye of an agent.

Mike Burns, who is a NFL player representative for D-Tour Guide spoke very highly of Matthews.

"He has a lot of raw talent," Burns said. "I believe if he really focuses on football for the next couple of months he will have a great chance to make it as a tight end."

Matthews, who averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds per game this season for the Tigers, said he felt he could have done better.

"I don't think I really performed that well today," Matthews said. "I feel like I have to gain about 20 pounds, work on coming out of a three-point stance and speed."

Stevens and Jarrett Morrow both ran the 40-yard dashes in less than 4.5 seconds. Stevens ran a 4.39 while Morrow ran 4.47.
In the vertical jump, Stevens showed off his hops by jumping 39.5 inches while Richard Gayle jumped a 38 respectfully.

Offensive guard Damien Pitts and Defensive tackle Almonte Duncan flexed their muscles in the Bench Press. Pitts lifted 225 pounds 26 times while Duncan 23 reps.
