The Godfather of Soul, James Brown penned the lyrics, "It's a man's/man's /man's world."
Today, this is a theme that still resonates within this society. People are familiar with the first line of the song, "This is a man's world."
But they often forget about the next line of the song, "But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl."
While many men want us to believe that they are running the world, one group of men took the time out to let the women of TSU know that they are appreciated.
The men of B.L.A.C.K. Inc. hosted their 7th Annual Women's Appreciation Dinner on March 20.
While many other male organizations at TSU host similar events, B.L.A.C.K. Inc. was the first at TSU to host such an event in 2001.
Out of the women's appreciation dinners that I have attended, I have to say that this was definitely the best. This was a great reminder that gentlemen do still exist at TSU.
Even though the event did start about an hour late, it was well worth the wait for the treat that these men had prepared.
A lady may have wondered if the room that she was entering was really the Women's Building auditorium.
It was illuminated with a red glow and candlelight. B.L.A.C.K. members were lined up on either side of the walkway which was glowing with candles.
The men escorted the attendees in two by two and made sure that seating the young ladies comfortably as the "World Famous" B.L.A.C.K. band serenaded us throughout the night.
They blessed us with poetry, songs, and a meal that one would have sworn was prepared in fine Italian restaurant. The men catered to our every wish and made sure that we were well taken care of. This dinner really stood out to me because B.L.A.C.K. Inc. did something that some other organizations fail to do. They actually showed appreciation to the women.
Some of the other women's appreciation events that I have attended have turned into nothing more than a showcase of the organization that is hosting.

Nice expression of feelings with details to back it up. Too bad there's no story on the event, including specifics of why Lipscomb was named Woman of the Year and the extraordinary event she both led that night and leads at the end of each of her calsses. (Continued…)

I wish I didn't even go to the "Women's Appreciation" hosted by the Sigma's. It was so bootleg. The food SUCKED!!!! Some of the chicken wasn't done! We were not feeling appreciated. (Continued…)
