Greetings, TSU!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful time supporting our football team in Memphis this past weekend.

The second home game of the season will be this weekend v.s. Eastern Kentucky.

On Thursday Sept. 18 the opening Convocation will be held in the Gentry Center.

This year's convocation is unique because we will be honoring the Freedom Riders.

The period in time in which they stood up for the African-American cause was a defining moment in our history.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so, we must straighten our backs and work for our
freedom."

The individuals being honored at Convocation sacrificed so much and now they are finally receiving their degrees.

Also during this week please remember to come out and support Cecelia Friday, our Miss Tennessee State University, at her preview party. The week of September 22-27, Cecelia will be competing in the Miss. National Black Hall of Fame pageant in Atlanta, Georgia. On Wednesday Sept. 17 she will be giving a preview of her pageant in the forum at 7 p.m.

Royally Yours,
Brittany Brooks
Miss Sophomore 2008-2009
