New T-Pain album delivers sweet sounds
Issue date: 12/7/08 Section: Arts & Culture
Thr33 Ringz
T-Pain
Grade: B-
The well-known synthesized voice of T Pain has done it again. Thr33 Ringz joins the list of other successful albums that he already has under his belt. This album is similar yet different from the other albums in only one major way… it "runneth over" in collaborations.
With the exception of three songs, the remaining part of the album has at least one other artist featured. Artist such as Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Akon, Chris Brown and Mary J. Blige help to make this album a success.
The album begins with a welcome and explains why T-Pain deems himself as the Ringleader Man of the music industry circus that he remains a steady and key part.
Following the intro, are a few love songs that show that he does possess actual singing ability, not just a synthesized one.
Songs like Keep Going give a softer side to the party man that audiences everywhere have grown to love. This song can easily be related to anyone who has ever felt like quitting but the keep going.
The remixed version of Eric Clapton's If I Could Change The World features Mary J. Blige and Akon, voices that combine and create a descent remake of the song.
For those that love the party side of the musical leader of the circus, he didn't leave them out. Songs like Dance Like Me and Techno Music give audiences a song to really take to the clubs with them.
The overall album has a nice blend of ballads and club rockers to satisfy any musical appetite. The numerous collaborations may be the albums only downfall.
Listeners rarely get the chance to really hear T Pain as they did in previous albums. The playlist comes off more like a mix tape than his actual album.
For those that buy the album, they will not be disappointed, if they prepare themselves for the compilations. For those that only want to hear the ringleader take lead, they might be slightly let down but will quickly get over it.
