With thought-provoking lyrics and a lead singer with one of today's most unique voices, the San Francisco-based band Thriving Ivory has hit what could be industry gold.

The five-member band recently released their first mainstream album Thriving Ivory and quickly became one of Vh1's You Oughta Know artists.

While Ivory has released two previous albums, Secret Place, as well as the indie release in 2006 of the self titled album Thriving Ivory, this album shows the improvement of the band over the past four years since their 2004 debut.

The first track, Runaway has an interesting rock infused element that strengthens the message behind the song.

Runaway provides a great transition to the first single released off the album, Angels on the Moon, which is a flawless track within itself, creating the perfect harmony of instruments and vocals.

This album also features a new track that was previously unreleased on their indie album called Alien.

Alien strengthens the album format with feel good instrumentals and lyrics that make viewers reflect upon memories or call upon the forces of inspiration.

All tracks seem to be in place on the album, the songs all flow right into the next and provide a feel that will make listeners want to listen again and again.

The twelve-track album features no duets or collaborations and functions just fine without them.

The genre on the album ranges from folk, to light rock and even to even pop. Thanks to the sound on Unhappy, and Long Hallway with a Broken Light, the album gives an all around devout indie feel while still catering to the mainstream audience.

The album's only setback is that it is so good, it only leaves room for them to be greater

From vocals to instrumentals, the album presents a flawless sound in a manner that seems almost effortless on the bands behalf. Hopefully Ivory can keep up the wonderful work and delight listeners for years to come.

But for now the self-titled album serves as a good listen and as a prominent example that musical genius is still appreciated.
