Spring is here and summer is steadily approaching. This summer, film offerings include prequels, remakes, sequels and new mainstream films.

Here are seven of some of the hot, must-see films of the summer:

Terminator Salvation
Blasting onto the screen in May is the fourth Terminator film, Terminator Salvation. The film stars Christian Bale as the hero John Connor in his war against the machines.

Terminator Salvation focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet in the year 2018, and though it takes place in the future, it is a prequel to the original film.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Fan boys will rejoice again in May as the prequel to the X-men trilogy, X-men Origins: Wolverine is released.

Starring the talented Hugh Jackman, the film is set 29 years before X-men and focuses on the violent past of Wolverine and his relationship with arch enemy, Sabertooth.

Star Trek
Director J. J. Abrams puts his spin on the eleventh Star Trek film. This Star Trek film, to be released in May, is the prequel and the reboot of the Star Trek series.

The film focuses on the back stories of James T. Kirk and Spock before they aboard the USS Enterprise to fight the Romulan of the future, Nero, who threatens the United Federations of Planets.

Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince
The sixth addition of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince will put audiences under a spell in July.

The film focuses on Dumbledore training Harry Potter for a treacherous, fast approaching battle against Voldemort, who is tightening his hold on both the Wizard and Muggle world.

G. I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra
Starring actors Channing Tatum and Dennis Quaid, G. I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra is fulfilling every guy's fantasy in August.

The film is based on the characters of the popular G.I. Joe franchise, and set ten years in the future; it shows the rise of the Cobra Organization.

H2: Halloween
Directed by the insanely talented Rob Zombie is H2: Halloween, the sequel to his remake and reboot of the Halloween franchise.

Zombie says that the film will be the opposite of what most people will expect and focuses more on Laurie and the psychological consequences two years later after Michael has slaughtered her friends and family.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The sequel to the 2007 blockbuster hit follows the ensemble cast of characters in the aftermath of the first Transformers film in a new battle with various Decepticons hellbent on revenge on the Autobots, as well as the human race.

These seven highly anticipated must see movies for the summer are not the only ones out there, just the ones that should definitely be worth the money.
