TSU's charge is for its students to "Enter to learn, go forth to serve." I feel that I have accomplished all of that through my matriculation.
As I write my final sounding off, I find myself looking back at the past three years I have spent at this beloved institution and getting choked up or misty-eyed as I realize that my days in big blue country are slipping away one by one.
I came to TSU bright eyed, ready to learn and looking forward to meeting the people who would become life-long friends.
Moving into Watson Hall is one experience that I would never want to do again but it was made easier with the help of peer counselors and Patrick Calvin moving my TV. (It's interesting the things that stick with you) Thank you.
Of course like many freshmen, I was insecure because I only knew a handful of people and was determined not to spend my spare time in my room. However, God has always blessed me with good roommates, in spite of the occasional day-to-day struggles.
I will always be thankful for the friends (20 Deep) I met freshman year. I owe to them my social life and my GPA. (I was not going to be the dumb one). They are the reason I have more than 500 pictures on Facebook and even more memories that I will treasure forever.
Many friendships do not stand the test of college time but I am thankful for the ones that did. I would like to thank Jennifer for being my better half, my fellow socialite and TSU friend that has been there for me through the good, bad and ugly of college life.
You have always given me the real, in spite of my feelings. For that I appreciate and love you. Hold it down it down for me on campus.
This made my life at TSU fun, but there was still much left to learn. Academically, I turned to my professors in the communications department. The department nurtured my talents and has taught me more than what any textbook had to offer.
I found out that I have no interest in cameras or microphones and my professors helped me direct my efforts elsewhere, while still preparing me for life beyond the Cumberland's fertile shore.
Honestly, there was no class that I believe was a waste of time. Even the boring ones that seemed like they were designed to be skipped had a purpose.
